About Zach

My freelance work primarily centers around small businesses who need a website in order to stay competitive in their market, but don't have a massive budget to have a design firm create one. I'm able to create professional-looking websites at affordable prices because I keep a very low overhead.

For my day job, I am currently on the team of web designers and developers at BNP Media. I'm in charge of all site updates for BNP's events division, which puts on educational conferences all over the country. I'm also the primary person who handles email marketing pieces. One of my specialties is advising on "safe" designs that will work for most email clients.

At my last job, I was a Web Design and Layout Specialist with Baron's Wholesale Clothiers, a men's wear company. I was hired on part time and then was promoted to a full time position once I graduated from Schoolcraft College. Baron's web business saw a 42% increase in sales during my first year there.

At Baron's, I established and developed seven separate websites. Each of these websites required daily use of Adobe Photoshop and Dreamweaver. It was also necessary for me to research and evaluate online services including web hosting and shopping carts to determine which was the most cost effective and useful for our needs. With each site, I fused my own creativity with effective web page design to create websites that are easy to navigate and interesting enough to engage our clientele. These websites include www.etuxedo.com and www.ecufflink.com.

Baron's also sends postcards and newsletters to their customers. As part of the creative team behind these mailings, my responsibilities included designing these pieces in either Illustrator or InDesign, editing them for content such as grammar and accuracy and maintaining an open and educated dialogue with our printers.

Additionally, I'm also interested in video and sound editing and have worked with several programs on my own time to develop a general knowledge in these fields.
In my free time, I enjoy photography, karate, and playing the guitar.
