Happy Pills
He says the government just
wants to keep everybody in suppression
So they've got us believing we're all in a state of depression
So happy pills have become our new obsession
And now we're clones who'll bow to The Man's oppression
And he recites it like it
was some speech that he read
Like it was something some guy who was smarter than him said
And I love arguing with
people who have an independent mind
But this guy sounds like he's repeating the rebellious youth company line
So I say "wait - lemmie
get this straight"
And he looked shocked when he saw that I was going to retaliate
So I tell him that Zach
is Pro-Prozac, I affirm the effects of Effexor
I love where Lexapro led me, and I'm not avoiding anything anymore
He looks at me with pure
ignorance in his eyes and I know I ain't that wise
But people who shoot their mouths off about shit they don't know about
That's something everyone here should despise
He professed that he was
proud he didn't need happy pills to get by.
I said, "Good for you but you're stupid. You should give some smart pills
a try."
If you're one of those people
who goes around being happy for no reason
If you're one of those people who hugs themselves because love's always in season
If you're one of those people who don't need help getting motivated
And if you're one of those people who've got al the right brain chemicals activated.
Then I say good for you,
be happy go do something great with that joy.
But don't diss my drugs like I'm some designer government toy
My life could've been a
lot worse, but it wasn't the best either
Good for you if you got a perfect family like you're on Leave it To Fucking
Beaver
I was deep in a dark hole of depression, I couldn't find my way out.
Happy Pills weren't my ready-made remedy, but they helped me sort some shit
out.
And I still believe everybody
could use a little therapy, but you don't have to agree
Just keep your bullshit anarchistic taglines the fuck away from me.
Because to me it sounds like you're the clone
When you've got the same old repetitive rebellious tone
